2025 March 20th. Visit to the H2B2 and Trinity facilities.
On March 20 (2025), Jose Luis Contreras Beramendi (Head of Department at the CDTI) visited the H2B2 facilities in Dos Hermanas (Seville) and the Trinity gas production facilities in Palancares (Aznalcázar) and the storage facilities in Marismas (Almonte).

2025 Feb. Master’s Thesis. Assessing soil respiration variability in a Mediterranean ecosystem: a baseline for monitoring an underground H₂ storage in Seville, Andalucia (Miguel Sánchez Pérez).
The study established a baseline assessment of CO₂ exchange and other gases, which will serve as a reference for future MMV campaigns in the hydrogen injection project at the depleted Palancares reservoir. Soil respiration exhibited daily, seasonal, and spatial variability, with temperature being the best predictor of seasonal changes. No significant differences were found between different management practices in olive orchards, and the importance of implementing sustainable practices to enhance the carbon balance was highlighted. No gas leakage was detected within the study area or in nearby reservoirs, further reinforcing the evidence that depleted reservoirs are suitable for gas storage. Continued monitoring and improvements in instrument sensitivity are recommended for future MMV campaigns.
